Insightful design for outside spaces
A SMALL TOWN HOUSE GARDEN
HARTLEY WINTNEY, HAMPSHIRE
This was a design for a small garden for a new build town house, overlooked by a care home. Whilst it was impractical to screen this out entirely, new hedging in a raised bed along the boundary and a corner pergola created a sense of privacy.
The clients had recently purchased a water feature in the form of a stone sphere, so I gave this pride of place next to a small deck seating area. New paving was installed and transitioned to a rear gravel area with stepping stones leading to a further, shady, sitting area. A bin store was positioned on the rear of the house to hide the bins away.
The front garden was narrow and difficult to mow, not least due to uneven levels and prominent inspection covers. To complement the house I designed a symmetrical layout with decorative pavers into which topiary shapes in lead-style containers were placed.
The garden was built by Buzz Creative Landscapes.
